Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris

Hello readers! I have been silent for the above reason! I have spent the last month or two re-reading the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris and learning how to crochet. I’ve made 2 scarves and 3 mittens (all for my kids). I still need to make at least one more mitten, and then I may try my hand at some warm winter socks.

I have also read a ton of books to my 3 littles, but that can be saved for another post (assuming I make time to write more, hahaha).

Now on to the review:

Sookie Stackhouse is a series about a telepath waitress who finds her life in danger after meeting her first vampire at the bar where she works. As she gets involved in the life of this Vampire (Bill) she gets in deeper in the supernatural world and her life is threatened no less than 13 times. (There are 13 books in the series and at least that many short stories.)

I have read the whole series before, say 10 years ago, but I had never read the short stories.

The writing seems consistent throughout the series, except for the last book which for some inexplicable reason took on the perspective of some other characters.

The series is great as a light hearted mystery/adventure with lots of paranormal and romance tossed in. I love the variety of creatures in Sookie’s world and how she slowly gets to learn about them.

The book series is NOT the same as the television show True Blood from HBO. Although the show is based on the first few novels, the characters’ development and story line are very different.

I really enjoyed my re-reading of the entire series, and I can see myself doing it again in a few years. I rate the whole series as 4 out of 5. It is fun, easy to read, creative and immersive.

Have you read these books?
